Discuss all things video game-related here. Want to find some raiding buddies? Considering the pros and cons of <insert gaming platform here>? Itching to post some dank Portal memes? You're in good company here, friend.

Lately, I've become addicted to Animal Crossing: New Leaf... again. The new Amiibo update added a crapton of new items, as well as daily achievements to earn MEOW coupons with which to buy said items. If anyone still plays, or is interested in playing, let me know and I'll let you come over and trash my village. :semicolondee:

So, we've finally crossed the line to stuff not even tangentially related to the comic? I have not played Animal Crossing, but from what I hear it seems like basically Sims, but animals, right?

We crossed that line a long time ago, I think you'll find.

And yeah, it's kind of Sims-like in the home-design aspect, but not much else, really. It's sort of like Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley in most other respects, except instead of farming crops and livestock, you're farming furniture, clothes, fruit, fossils, art, fish, insects, favors for villagers... it's basically the ultimate collect-a-thon.

Starbound! That's my re-addiction this week.
I just started a new character, and I hate the unskippable starting mission so much! Every character has to do the same thing! Building a hellevator and collecting 20 corefragments every single character! Building your house/HQ/bird-bunker is pretty fun, though. My favorite part of the game, though, is wandering through an abandoned mine, or just some hole in the ground, and looting every box in sight. Half the stuff I'll never use, and yet I want it all!

It's a great adventuring-looting game, and every once in a while you wander upon a structure you've never seen before, so it's fun to explore too.
Also, most planets are just beautiful.

The only thing I know of Animal Crossing is the "Smashville" map in Brawl.
As far as Brawl goes, however, does anyone have some pro strats for playing as Kirby? My primary strategy tends to be to brick down onto the enemy, then immediately hammer to whichever side they flew, but I have been delving more into using aerials. I just can't build up a rhythm.

All I can say about Kirby is this: use the hammer. Hammer is strong. Hammer can't go wrong.

S'why I main King Dedede :swag:

I love Dedede (especially w/ the 'splody hammer), but he's JUST so SLOW...

If you're up against speedy characters as Dedede, you gotta make use of his few quick moves to disrupt the enemy before you can pound on them with his stronger attacks. Stuff like his neutral A combo (at close range), his back air (practice getting this off from a short jump while facing the enemy; it's a valuable skill), his side tilt-A, down tilt-A, and neutral air. His side tilt-A is amazing in terms of reach, and comes out fairly quickly, so it's great for halting an enemy's approach. Similarly (in Brawl at least, which is actually the moveset I prefer), his minion throw is invaluable for interrupting attacks at mid-range and baiting the opponent closer.

I played a loooooot of Dedede back in my Brawl days. :geek:

wait hold on a mo'. What do you mean by "tilt"? Is that like a dash attack? My preferred control scheme is sideways Wiimote (...pls don't hurt me), so a lot of sayings tend to make no sense to me :S

....wat :eveywtf:

I've never met anybody who plays with the sideways Wiimote! I'm honestly more impressed than anything. Everyone always laughs when I tell them I play with the Wiimote + nunchuk, up until I start beating them. :refreshing:

No, tilts are what you do when you input a direction while attacking, but not hard enough for it to be a smash attack. I have no earthly idea how the sideways Wiimote would register tilts, though, considering it only has buttons and no analog stick... :uhhwhat:

Ahhhh I gotcha. The wiimote smash v. tilt (i call it punch) is a matter of timing. you go arrow -> 2 really quickly, and it charges the smash. You hold on to it a little, then press 2, it doesn't register a smash anymore. It's actually fairly intuitive once you realize which buttons do what; it plays like a DS, almost, only you have the A button instead of a second trigger.

Ah, I see. Well, as long as it works for you, that's what matters.

You don't have Smash 4 for the 3DS, I'm guessing?

Only played Smash Bros a few times, and I terribly suck at it.

Starbound!
Been some time since I last played, but I have to agree with you, it's an awesome game.

There's a game called Kerbal Space Program, that is absolutely awesome. It lacks multiplayer and other small stuff to be ultimately awesome, but still.
It's a flight/space simulator/sandbox game. Basically, you have a solar system, in wich there is an Earth-ish planet, on wich you have a Space Center. And you can build anything you want (planes, rockets, shuttles, space stations, rovers, probes, weird stuff...) and fly them (or send them to space, or crash them on an other planet... or just crash in hollywood manner).
With realistic-ish physics, awesome community, looooots of mods...
I spent an extreme amount of time on this game.

But I haven't played it fir some time, been on Fallout 4 a bit too much too...

Did you go back and talk to everyone at the end?

I always pretend that the nuclear war was actually started by the Protectrons in a desperate bid for freedom.

Not yet. Sooooo many feels.
When you recover from the tidal wave of feels, go all the way back through eveerything, and talk to everyone! It's a lot of walking simulator, especially once you pass back through Snowdin, but stay determined, and go aaaaall the way back!
