So I could have sworn that "reckon" was a recurring phrase within my common-use vernacular. This is a word I use at work and in public with such frequency and comfort, until tonight I assumed was something I had been saying for years.
Recently Esther's been pointing it out whenever I say it, and it's been confusing me. I couldn't figure out if she was bringing attention to a particular australianism, or if she figured I had picked it up during one of my visits to Freedomland, but I could have sworn I've been saying it since at least highschool.
Tonight we got into an... argument(?) (Discussion? Playful banter(?)) Over our nightly call about my use of the word in which I set out to prove I've been saying it for years.
I open up our messaging app and click the little magnifying glass, and search "reckon".
... 4 times.... 3 of which were in the last week.
I open up discord... not one mention of the word.
I search through the annals and records of the great library of Cresnov to find only one mention used in the context of "a force to be reckoned with" regarding a character from h*mestuck.
I come back to Esther and admit defeat, my head hung low and my spirits lower. Turns out my girlfriend knows more about me than I do.
I had a theory on this forum that everyone here is related to Esther.
My current working theory is that Esther is a hive mind parasite who has been slowly taking me over with Texan slang and southern mannerisms, which explains why my
not-australian accent has gotten so much more American lately.
... I should probably redo that accent tag video someday.
