HELLO PEOPLE,

So the Daily Disqus Dive Team Challenge thread has been running for about half a year now, and it's been a lot of fun seeing the dedication of its participants, spinning the lucky wheel, and drawing some art!

It has, though, stagnated a bit, with participation dwindling rather than growing--and I know that is because the forum activity is low in general right now--but I wanted to start a thread to collect feedback about the game to try and make it better and stronger!

So, general comments, feedback, and suggestions are welcome, but here are some additional questions you may answer if you feel inclined:

1. If you haven't joined Disqus Dive, why not?
2. If you have participated in Disqus Dive, what do you like about it? What do you dislike about it?
3. Do you enjoy the wheel spins?
4. Do you think the "Teammate 1 picks X and Teammate 2 picks Y" prompt system for exclusive art is a good incentive to participate?
5. Are teams fun or stressful?
6. Is the game confusing?

Answering any or all of the questions is highly appreciated!!!

I've also been toying with the idea of doing away with the 2-person team system and replacing it with character-based teams. Team Amber, Team Evey, etc... When a character-based team wins the wheel spin, I can immediately start on the exclusive art of said character without having to wait for the winning team members to choose their preferences for the prompt. The pro would be that the art would probably get finished faster, and teams can be larger than 2 people which might eliminate some pressure (if there is any) about joining a team and being reliable. The con would be that there wouldn't be as much of a chance to influence the art in a unique way like we do with the prompts. --Thoughts on this?

1. I have joined Disqus Dibs!
2. I've loved almost every moment of it! Except for that one point where my streak crumbled before my very eyes. That was heart breaking XD
3. The wheelspin is the best part!
4. Personally, yes!
5. The teams are fun! The only thing better than winning is winning with a friend!
6. Nope! Though when I first started I was slightly overwhelmed. I didn't want to join initially because I thought it would be confusing, but it's really straight forward once I started!

I would also like to make a suggestion of perhaps making the value of comments greater than upvotes?

i haven't really joined, mostly because of me not being likely to hold up any kind of streak, and maybe not being able to find a team member. i do participate in the disqus comments occasionally, just not the daily dive challenge.

@Oegyein @Marken Thank you for the feedback!!

Comments having a greater value than upvotes is a good suggestion, but I'm wondering if that would encourage 1-word, spammy comments just to get more points. I don't necessarily want that, so that's why upvotes are an option if one has nothing of special interest to say, and keeping the value equal probably discourages the potential temptation to spam.

I'm also wondering if creating a "Find a Disqus Dive teammate" thread would be beneficial.

1. I joined as soon as it existed!
2. I'm going to go with my partner's answer here.
3. Why, of course! It's the best part.
4. Yep. It makes some unique artwork that we couldn't see in the comic itself.
5. Teamwork makes the dream work!
6. I don't see anything confusing about it.

2. I enjoy most of it. The only part I don't enjoy is when those pesky Cavebound kids win the spin.
3. Zules everybody loves wheel spins, its a fact of life. So much so, several game shows have been developed in their honour.
4. Val has this spot on. The fun is in not knowing what you'll get.
5. @EstherTb is the reason I joined DDDTC in the first place; so without them I probably wouldn't have joined.
6. @Oegyein has this one nailed down, once you dive in there's nothing to it.

The find a teammate thread sounds like a good idea.
I don't know whether you might want to put a time limit onto the responses to the wheel spins. I would guess you have time specifically set aside to do the work and its unfair for us to mess with that.

@Marken Just jump in, you never know you could get lucky.

Thanks @BleepBloopBeep !

So what I'm gleaning here, overall, is that what we have already is pretty enjoyable and only needs a few minor tweaks, at least to the people who are already participating.

More feedback is still welcome!

1. I totally have
2. My teammate is the best part! @BleepBloopBeep keeps up the streak when i've been mostly absent because of summer :whistling:
3. I do! I think it would be more fun if we had more than 2 teams tho.
4. Yes I like that
5. Super fun and friendship building~
6. Not at allll

I think the character-based teams would be super fun! Maybe we could do character teams one month while pausing the 2-person team streaks (not breaking them during the break). Like alternate what kind of teams we have each month but keep the streaks when we switch. This way we could have the unique character prompts and character specific pictures.

I like this idea!
I think it might get a little bit confusing to keep track of without clear, consistent management--which isn't something I'm in the best position to provide right now--so I'll have to give some thought about whether or not I could make something like this work.

Given the tearstained post by your husband he might be open to it just maybe.

go ahead, i think it's fine to keep it. i'm probably keeping mine, even though the name is probbably being changed. tbh, i've kinda also been avoiding the forums due to not keeping up. :backupamber:
Yeah it's kind of stressful. 😅 Though we kept up a pretty good streak there for a while!

Do y'all think I need to restructure the Disqus Dive rules? I definitely don't want the game to become a source of guilt/stress!

i think @EstherTb 's earlier idea of buying "streak-passes" with points would help a lot.

Well the reason I feel guilty is letting down a teammate... like if I skip a day of the disqus dive then it looks bad posting on other threads. 😅

I've been thinking about it since the other day and I have a couple ideas.

1. Yes the streak pass idea could be helpful, especially in keeping the game changed as little as possible.

2. Make it solo maybe.. could help with the guilt feeling but it also might be less active if theres not as much pressure.

3. My favorite idea so far but the most changes. Make it a monthly reset (whenever you spin the wheel) instead of an ongoing streak. Instead of starting from 0 when you miss a day you would just build up points. You could still keep the teams, maybe 1 point for one person but if both people participate on the same day they get a 3rd bonus point? And it'd also maybe help keep one team from dominating. (No hard feelings Blaze Blasters, your streak is quite impressive!)

The downsides I see to this is... well, it might take away from Blaze Blasters' hard and dedicated work in keeping up a streak, and the bonus point would be a little extra for us to keep track of, although the extra point idea could easily just be thrown out altogether. 😂

I was actually thinking about bowing out for a while once the streak hit a year. I kinda unbalance the game with my presence (I am proud of an approximately 97% hit rate though) and was starting to feel guilty about it.
