A worthy rant. It's very tough to match to original, though I think the Rufus Wainwright version is my favourite (and I know the Jeff Buckley fans will come for me, I'm not saying his version isn't excellent, I just don't enjoy it as much).

I mean it's a song that was made by the various covers, upon release in 1984 it really wasn't one anybody cared about. It really gained traction with John Cale's cover in 1991, and Jeff Buckley's cover in 1994. Then it appeared in a small animated movie that nobody heard of in 2001, opening it up to new audiences. Personally the Cohen version is hard to listen to.

I was listening to an auto-generated playlist when this little masterpiece came on:

I immediately went and checked out more from these guys, and ended up impulse buying tickets to their concert in October (they were super cheap). So that’s happening. The most exciting part is that the pig suit does get worn at performances, and it’s a small band so I might actually get a picture with the guy wearing it…
