I woke up yesterday, bleary eyed and disoriented, to a notification on my phone telling me it was Esther's birthday.
My thoughts were as follow:
"Oh shoot! It's the 27th already!?"
"I'm a terrible boyfriend!"
"I gotta call her to wish her a happy birthday!"
I call. She answers. I wish her a happy birthday. She tells me it's not her birthday. I look at my phone. Google is still in Sydney time.

Yes, everyone can see birthdays on the forum home page, near the bottom! When it's someone's birthday, their icon appears.
